Sunday Post

So my blogging world was turned upside down when I sat down to edit a post on Wednesday. I know WP rolled out the block format last year but I ignored it – I was able to keep using the classic form I was used to. WHY did they have to change it??? At any rate, I will be plugging along in the weeks to come trying to figure things out and get comfortable in this strange, new world. 🙃

  1. I am looking forward to reading the Wendy Wax book eventually. Yes the WordPress thing is a nuisance but I use the Classic block which is an option and I work from there. It’s a matter of clicking everything and working it out. We don’t need it!

  2. Oh, Mary, your blog made me smile! I had the exact same reaction as you did – WHY?? At least they could have left the classic for those of us who did not want to change. It made me almost want to quit blogging. I did not want to figure it all out. I had to get help from my daughter to find out how to schedule my posts. Thank you for making my day!

  3. I had a similar experience when Google changed Blogger – don’t they know most people hate change? LOL Hope the transition works out for you Mary. Nan Rossiter is quite popular, hope this new one is good.

  4. Oh, yes, I was screaming as I first tried to work around Block Editor. I wasn’t able to stick to my classic method after the change, but there is a “classic” block that mimics the old way. Sort of. LOL.

    Hang in there!

I can’t wait to read the Wendy Wax book.

Enjoy your week…and I hope the struggles with blogging will get better. I still experience a “jumping around” effect when I try to maneuver. Sigh.

  5. All the platforms seem to have changed their formatting and I have no idea why! I get fixing issues but it just feels like they messed with stuff just to mess with it. Hopefully it won’t be too annoying of an adjustment. Enjoy your reading!

  6. I use Word Press as a secondary blog so I can comment of WP blogs and do not like the new post format either.

Cute cover on THE BREAK-UP BOOK CLUB.

    Have a good week.

  7. Oh, I remembered the confusion I felt when the blocks were first introduced! Bleh! I still mostly ignore them as much as I can.

The Break-Up Book Club sounds good to me, exactly the kind of book I’m looking at right now. Have a great week and happy reading!

  8. I had to learn the WordPress changes for MM. Blogger ‘updated’ a while back and that was a challenge to.
I agree – why do they mess with something that is working?
I hope your reading gives you a break from blogging stress. 🙂

  9. So far I (okay – my husband) has managed to keep me going on the classic WordPress version, just to avoid the stress of him having to sit down with me and try to explain the block version. I have no idea how he is doing it, or how long it will continue, but I’m just making the most of it while it lasts. I shall therefore either be playing catch-up with you all at some point, or deciding to call it a day!

I like the sound of the book you featured last week ‘Gathering Dark’ and that one is destined for my reading list, so thanks for sharing.

I hope that this week gets a little easier and less stressful for you 🙂

  10. I know, I was so confused when WordPress forced that update on my blog. I’m kind of used to it now but it takes longer to get posts up. Happy reading this week, The Break-Up Book Club look good!

  11. I am with you. Why change a good thing? It has taken me some time to get used to.

Wendy Wax’s book sounds great. I haven’t read anything from her in a while. I am overdue.

Hope you have a nice week.

  12. It’s weird how the smallest change in your blog-sphere can completely change the way you blog, right? I always need ages to get used to changes and it’s why I haven’t switched to any new host sites yet xD But these books look great, ‘Gathering Dark sounds really interesting! I hope you have a lovely week and do drop by my Monday post if you have the time! – Juli @ A Universe in Words
