    • I’m glad to hear you liked The Last Queen because I’ve read such good reviews for it. I read Gortner’s book about Isabella of Castile last year and liked it so when TLQ was on sale last week I grabbed it.

  2. You reminded me I want to read the new book by Jess Walter. I like short stories.

I am so happy that the forest trails are green again! The last few weeks it’s been really pretty. The only downside … we are having a terrible problem with ticks already this year. If I venture off a path to get a closer look at a bird I have to check closely that they are not riding home on my clothes. Maybe it’s just a Chicago area problem but it’s annoying.

    • I suspect if you have a tick issue we do as well. I kept to the paved path through the wooded area so I hope that greatly reduced my chances but I guess I’ll have to be more careful where I walk and to do a tick check after.

  3. I’ve wanted to reread The Great Gatsby, too, since seeing the film. It surprised me how much I liked it when I suspected that music by Jay-Z would not result in that sentiment. 🙂

  4. Hi Mary,

You have a great and varied selection of books this week, although none of them have been added to my own list, I’m afraid.

Your walk through the woods looks lovely, although trees do bring on my allergies early on in the season, when all the sticky blossom gets blown around.

We have had some excellent walking weather here in the South of the UK over the past few days and this afternoon we took a stroll down to the shore-side of the River Hamble, which was lovely.

    Have a good week,

    Yvonne

    • Hi Yvonne, I did sneeze a few times on my walk 🙂 Your walk along the river sounds nice – I like to walk near water because there’s so much to see. Have a good week.

    • After reading Beautiful Ruins earlier this year I grabbed We LIve in Water when it was on sale last week. I keep trying short stories by different authors with hopes of finding some that I like 🙂

  6. LOVE your walk pic! So peaceful and lovely! I also like your new reads; I keep seeing the House at the End of Hope Street cover, and the description makes me want to see a review or two before I make up my mind on it! Have a great week!

    ENJOY all your books.

I didn’t post a Mailbox Monday this week. I am not home yet. Will be heading home tomorrow from the BEA. I am just checking out everyone’s mailboxes. 🙂
