Blog news:

Five years ago tomorrow (Feb. 4, 2008) I began my blog. It’s been an adventure, to say the least. I’ve enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people – readers, authors, publishing industry people – who share a love of books.

The blog has evolved since those early days and continues to change. The focus is still books but I’ve stopped accepting review books opting instead to read from my own shelves. That said, I’m not saying I won’t request from netgalley or edelweiss from time to time 🙂  A book lover has her limits where willpower is concerned!

Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it.

Happy reading!

  1. I think some of us book bloggers have evolved together during the past five years of blogging and book reviewing. We have seen changes in the book publishing and marketing world. So many bloggers I have followed now for the past few years have started to say the same thing about not accepting as many books for review as they used to. Having said all this, Happy 5 year Blogoversary, and enjoy your new books!

  2. Congrats on your blogoversary! 5 years is a big achievement- keep having fun! Netgalley and Edelweiss make it so tempting and easy to request books. Enjoy all your new reads 🙂

  3. Happy blogoversary, Mary! Five years….wow! And now I’m realizing that my first blog (Story Corner, which used to be Creations by Laurel-Rain Snow: I’m glad I changed the name!) will be five in April.

Where does the time go? And don’t we learn a lot in the process?

I really want to read The Good House….I read another book by this author. And now I’m off to check out your review of the Josie Brown book…I read another of hers and enjoyed it.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

    • In retrospect those years passed quickly, Laurel-Rain. And a lot has happened in life – most of it good so I’m grateful. I think a lot of us started in 2008 – at least a lot of blogger I follow. So glad you’re one of them 🙂

  4. Congrats on the 5-year milestone. I’ll be reading The Lost Art of Mixing too, but first I have to finish listening to The School of Essential Ingredients. I thought I had read it already, but nope I didn’t.

  7. Congrats on 5 years of blogging! That is no small accomplishment!! I’ve seen my blog evolve over the years too. It is fun to see it “grow up” or at least diversity or specialize as the case may be.

  8. Congratulations on your five year mark! That’s an exciting accomplishment 🙂

I’m trying to modify the way that I read as well, by reading fewer review books and hopefully picking up more from my shelf too. I’ve got soooo many that I haven’t read, it’s a little ridiculous at this point!
