Sunday Post

The first week of 2012 is behind us and I’m still playing catch up with reading. The holidays and a cold slowed me down so there were no reviews posted last week.

I’m still reading War & Peace. I’m at 88% on the kindle edition which is page 1069 in the Pevear and Volokhonsky paperback – love that I can read two ways.

I finished Midnight in Austenland (arc) – review will post on Wednesday. Currently reading Ali in Wonderland (arc). Next up is a book from my shelves – not sure which one.

What about you? Are you back in the swing of things with your reading?

  1. I am slowly getting back in the swing. The good/bad thing for me is that being pregnant allowed me to cut back on my work schedule, but I’ve been so tired that when I do sit down to read, I tend to fall asleep!

I did get a ton of books out from the library this week, and am hoping to at least make a good dent in three of them – the Eve Duncan Trilogy.

    Have a great week!

  2. I’m slow because I’m reading a biography of Gen. Braxton Bragg which has small print and it’s very long. Yesterday while the Confed. troops were nearing Shiloh in this book, we had quite a few explosions around here. The gas drilling companies are setting them off, but it sounded like the first soldiers to arrive at Shiloh were already unlimbering their artillery. Very appropriate.

  3. I’m not pregnant but I’m tending to fall asleep when I sit down to read. I’m on my first TBR from my shelves as per my challenge Jan. – April 1st. I love Barbara’s comment on the explosions being appropriate for her Shiloh invasion. And now I’m going to look up Ali in Wonderland. Have a good week.

  4. I am on my third book of the year so far, well I am acutally reading two at a time which is very usual for me. I am reading one on my kindle and one print book., Maya Banks Long Road Home..And a new to me author Mari Carr on my kindle…
But this week is going to be a quiet week, so I should get a couple of more books read this week too..maybe three..
My first book I started the new year of with was Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr. I love this series, can’t wait for the next one to come out, Redwood Bend

    • Kathleen, I know I’ll be reading Hidden Summit very soon. Glad to hear you liked it. I love the Virgin River series.
I can read multiple books at a time as long as they are different genres. I tried two historicals once and became completely confused with the characters. Lesson learned 🙂
      Are you on Goodreads?

    • Beth, I’m surprising myself, lol. Actually, it’s quite doable in a year. There are 365 chapters. I’m doing it with a group that began Jan. 1, 2011. The end date was extended to June 2012 so I’m still in it 😉

  5. I am in awe of anyone reading War And Peace…wow…yes…I am reading obsessively…four books last week but one was a short one but it still counts right?

  6. I feel as though I’ve hit the ground running for the 2012 challenges. I finished one chunkster that will satisfy an item on that challenge; I also finished a review book that’s been sitting around on my coffee table.

Hope to continue moving those books off the old stacks!

Thanks for visiting my Potpourri blog earlier….

  7. War and Peace, wow, that a biggie. I’m still reading but I need to catch up with my reviews that I still haven’t written from 2011 books. I think I’m going to do a few mini review posts and get them out of the way.

  8. I had a really good first week back to work after being off for 10 days, but I am already sad about it being Monday tomorrow and having to work a full week. Why wasn’t I born rich?

Have a great week Mary. Glad your cold is better.

  9. Sounds like you’ve got some good reading going on! I’m in the middle of a lot of books because of the Indie Lit Awards (and because I dropped everything to start reading those books I still have others that I’m in the process of reading and will need to finish eventually).

  10. I am adjusting my life and finding that I don’t feel the pressure to get books done any longer. I just want to enjoy the love of reading. In fact, I gave myself a limit of review books for the year and I have 6 to go, but I’m seriously playing with the idea and stopping altogether and no more review books. Not sure what I’m going to do yet but it feels right and a bit liberating!! 😀 I did not finish War and Peace…will try it again though. You are doing great!! 😀
