Mailbox Monday – November 28

Hosted in November at  Mailbox Monday

Last week I used a credit at to buy Trading Christmas by Debbie Macomber. The movie version is being shown on the Hallmark channel this season but I also wanted to read it. Macomber Christmas themed books are heartwarming. A few days later I received an email from Audible announcing a sale – 100 books priced at $4.95 each (it may still be going on). That was hard to pass up especially when one of the books offered was one I’ve always meant to read but never got around to:  Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl (narrated by Simon Vance). I also picked up Debbie Macomber’s Christmas Cookbook. My hubby recently won an iPad 2 at work and gave it to me. I’ve been tempted to buy this cookbook and thought I’d try it on the iPad. I’ll let you know what I think in a few weeks. Hm, interesting mix of books, wouldn’t you say? 😉

Then I ventured out for a little shopping on Small Business Saturday. The local indie bookstore was my destination. I picked up two copies of The Kitchen Counter Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn. Those are Christmas gifts – and they’re signed! I also found a book for my Book Blogger Swap-ee (to remain a secret – I bought the same book for me). And I had to pick up The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt  by Caroline Preston because of all the book blogger rave reviews. Merry Christmas to me 🙂

So what was in your mailbox last week?

  1. Wow, you are having a great time when it comes to books! I like your choices and am so excited that you also got an ipad! I love mine and use it frequently. So many great books made it home with you this weekend, and I hope that you enjoy them!

  2. I recorded that Macomber Christmas show 😀 I love her books especially at this time of year. What a great deal on Audible and how awesome is that about the iPad 2??!!! Enjoy it and your books! You bought some great ones for presents!

  3. How nice of your husband to give you his iPad! I also love giving books for Christmas- the recipient and I can then talk about the books during the year. Enjoy your books!

  4. I’m thrilled you bought one of Debbie Macomber’s Christmas-themed books because a friend recently gave me one and I’ve been wondering what to expect while saving it for closer to Christmas. It sounds like I have something to look forward too!

Great purchases on Small Saturday – I bought some books that day, too! I’ve read terrific review of Kathleen Finn’s Cooking School book!

I won The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt and received it in the mail recently, I’m really looking forward to it.

    Enjoy and Happy Reading!

  5. I read Frankie Pratt over the weekend! You will love it, Mary! I am wishing for The Kitchen Counter Cooking book. So many have raved about that book too! How great is your hubby to give you the iPad!

  6. I read Man’s Search for Meaning when I was a teenager — I should probably read it again as I’m sure I’d get more out of it now. I also really want to read The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt. Enjoy all your new books!

  7. I’m thinking the iPad would be good for cookbooks. I’ll be interested in your opinion. I’m still hesitating… iPad, tablet, eReader… I can’t decide.

I keep seeing The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt, must read that one soon.
