I have already read Whistlin’ Dixie and it was a great book.. You will enjoy it Mary. I just got in a book I have been wanting to read, in a box of books I won in contest, She’s Gone Country by Jane Porter and another book I won in another contest, A Texas Outlaw, it is by authors Jodi Thomas, Linda Broday, Phyliss Miranda, Dewanna Pace, Just a couple of books of the many that are on my tbr shelves…
Going to be hours and hours of great reading…

I had to look up Whistlin’ Dixie – the synopsis is wonderful – it looks like a really entertaining read! I’m so upset; a friend loaned me The Immortal Life, but she took it back before I had a chance to read it (one of her other friends INSISTED that no one would have done anything like that!) and the other friend hasn’t given it back, so I’m just waiting …
Enjoy the new reads!

Why is Henriette life Immortal??? Is she a blood sucking vampire or a zombie ??? Just teasing 😉
Enjoy both reads and will look up both to see what I’m missing out in reading world.
PS How’s the wee one??

I think that you’ll like The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Mary. It is an amazing book as it is a true story. I have a link to a BBC documentary and will send it to you to watch after you read the book, if you’re interested. I read it with my book club and we all watched the documentary which features more background information, the family and I believe it was mentioned in the book. Maybe you should read this one first and then read Whistlin’ Dixie In A Nor’easter which sounds much lighter:) I have that one on my TBR shelf.

Bonnie, yes I’d love the documentary link! I bought “Whistlin’ Dixie” in the kindle edition ($2.99). The author wrote a follow-up book that I’ve seen on a few mailbox lists today which is probably why the first book is priced low.
