Blog Doppelganger?

Well, not exactly.  It has come to my attention (thank you, Staci) that someone has a blog called Bookfan Mary.  It’s hosted at Blogger (I moved to WordPress from Blogger eight months ago).  My blog’s name is Bookfan but my URL is similar to what it was at Blogger.

So, please do me a favor and check the URL in your reader to be sure you’re not leaving comments at the other blog thinking it’s mine.  I think this issue may effect people who use Blogger because the blog posts came through Staci’s Blogger dashboard.

My  URL is https://bookfanmary.wordpress.com

I realize that if you’re reading this it means you have my new URL but just in case you didn’t delete my old Blogspot URL when I moved, you may want to now.

Thank you so much.  I hope this clears up any confusion.

    • I’m guessing it’s because you didn’t delete my old URL when I moved last June. I forget to do that sometimes when blogs I follow move or change names, etc.

    • Thanks for the comment, Mystica. I’m wondering if it effects people who use Blogger AND ALSO follow me via Google Friend Connect. I don’t have the GFC widget on my wordpress blog but I did on my old Blogger blog.

    • PK, leave it to you to make me laugh 🙂 When I was in high school and college I was teased that I looked like Joanie Cunningham (Happy Days to those who aren’t sure about the reference). I saw her on tv recently and can safely say I no longer look like her.

  2. I’m so glad I’m in the right place. Though it does make me wonder, do you think you might be living in parallel worlds and not know it? yikes!*? hehe Luckily I have you in my favorites.

  3. As far as I’m concerned you are the one and only Bookfan Mary – there’s nobody quite like you! It comes up in my dashboard listing as Bookfan Mary – 2010 so when I scroll for my favorite must read blog ( you’re right there at the top) it’s easy to find due to the 2010.

  4. I have the correct url for you since I am with wordpress and follow you through email.

Apparently blogger reissues blog names if the old blog is deleted. If I were a cynical person I’d say I can’t believe someone would ‘accidently’ chose your old blog name. But nope, I’m not a cynic!

  5. Hi Mary, I subscribe by email so it isn’t an issue for me, but I’m glad Staci noticed the problem. Yay for book blogging friends 🙂

  6. The blogspot URL of this doppelganger (LOL) is not the same as your old blog URL, right? Because, I thought Blogger didn’t allow the same blog URL to be used by another person even if the previous owner deleted blog, account, and what-not. Also, it’s weird that feeds from that site is also going to the reader – that’s buggy!

    • Aths, it actually is the same as my old URL. I looked on blogger for a way to contact them about it and couldn’t find a clear way re this issue – so frustrating and reinforced my decision to leave them last year (another item on the list of reasons).
