Title: Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor
Author: Lisa Kleypas
Genre: Fiction
My thoughts: I listened to this holiday romance. It’s a sweet and enjoyable novel about Mark Nolan who seems quite willing to settle for a relationship with the wrong woman and Maggie Conroy, a young widow, who thinks she’s had her one chance at love so she’s not interested in anything more than friendship.
Mark became his young niece Holly’s guardian after the tragic death of his sister. The woman he’s been dating seems to think Holly shouldn’t be considered Mark’s child because he’s not her father. Mark starts to feel not so willing to settle with that woman. He’s becoming more attracted to Maggie anyway but she isn’t interested in dating – ever.
Surprisingly this is the first Lisa Kleypas novel I’ve ever read. I like her easy style as she takes the reader through a not-so-unusual plot but makes it seem fresh, just the same. This is a light, feel-good read that is perfect for the season. It combines Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Why I chose: I read it for the Holiday Reading Challenge.
Recommend? Yes, to fans of holiday romance fiction and Lisa Kleypas. Â I listened to the unabridged audiobook performed by Tanya Eby. Â I enjoyed her presentation.

I recently checked out the audio book too. Glad to hear it’s good. Like you, I am looking for holiday-themed books.

I’ve read on of Kleypas’s books and it was a little too detailed for me at times, if you know what I mean.

It was very light, Kaye. I can’t compare to her other novels as I haven’t read any.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving which included a few relatives who haven’t been able to join us in the past few years. And I’m happy to report I didn’t overdo it with the turkey and pie this year 🙂

I’ve seen this one on Amazon and debated downloading it but I’ve got a few Christmas books now that I probably won’t get to so that’s enough. Glad you enjoyed it.

I usually try to find seasonal books at the library, Dar. That way I’m not upset if a book doesn’t wow me 🙂

I have read the book and I liked it very much. I cannot wait to read the next two brothers stories… Like you I find a lot of my Christmas books at the library, but I do have a few fav authors that I buy or I have been lucky enough to win their seasonal book…

I like Christmas books but I’m not a big romance reader so this one may not be my cup of tea.

I like the fact that this is an easy style to read. I’ve just finished my third book for the challenge (A Christmas Carol) and have decided that something not too heavy is probably my first choice of seasonal reading. Enjoy the rest of the challenge, I look forward to seeing what else you have been reading.
