  1. I just finished (literally, just finished-it’s why I’m up right now) Calico Joe and I really liked it and I am so not a baseball fan. I forgot how good John Grisham can be. The rest of your Mailbox looks great. Happy reading.

    • I haven’t read one of his novels in a long time but I AM a baseball fan so I was thrilled when the publisher sent it.

  2. I love the photo in your header…it’s so peaceful and pretty! and the colors are amazing!

Calico Joe is getting great reviews and so is The Song Remains the Same. I hope you enjoy these books.

I’m not familiar with Along the Rim and look forward to your thoughts on the book.
    Have a great reading week :o )

    • Thanks, Amy. My daughter lives about two minutes from that scene – in Maine. I took the photo several years ago at sunset.

Along The Rim is a book I picked up a few weeks ago while on vacation at the Grand Canyon.

  3. Hi Mary,

I have come across ‘Calico Joe’ on more than one blog this week, so I guess it is doing the rounds. I have read quite a few John Grisham books in my time, but I am not sure that this will be one for me, as I am not into baseball very much.

The book about the Grand Canyon sounds great. I love coffee table books, as you can just dip in and out of them at your leisure. the only downside is the storage of them and the price tags, which are usually quite high.

‘The Song Remains The Same’ resonates quite a lot with me, as we have friends who were involved in a car crash in Sweden and she was left in a coma for several months. On waking she didn’t know her family at all, or even that she was married. She has had a long and emotional journey to more or less full recovery, to be able to read, write and communicate and thankfully most of her memory has been restored. I am not sure fif this one would be too emotional a read for me?

Enjoy your books and have a good week,

    Yvonne

    • Yvonne, the Grand Canyon book is actually a small paperback. But your comment about coffee table book makes me wish I’d thought to get one because the photography would really show how amazing the GC is. My little paperback is nice, though, and filled with info and great photos.

I imagine The Song Remains the Same would be an emotional book for you given the situation you described. What an ordeal for your friends!

  4. I’m really looking forward to The Song Remains The Same — I read a book by Allison Winn Scotch a year or two ago and really enjoyed it!
